Habitat for humanity, Stanislaus is a faith-based housing ministry that brings people together from all walks of life to work with families in need to improve their living conditions.

Our purpose is to:

· Improve the quality of life for low - income households by creating better housing

· Provide affordable homeownership opportunities for our area’s workforce

· To help people help themselves

· Put people on the right track to becoming homeowners

Families are selected on the basis of these requirements:

 · Qualified low-income household

          * Fit the current years HUD income

             requirements (call office for current guidelines)

· Have a demonstrated need

          * Unsafe or unhealthy living conditions

          * Overcrowding

          * Paying excessive amount for

             housing

· Are willing to partner

          * Sweat equity requirements - 500 hours

             minimum at the construction sites

          * Willingness to attend required

             educational workshops on the subject

             of homeownership, budgeting and

             other related topics.

          * Provide timely & complete information

          * Agree to live a crime free & drug free

             lifestyle         

· Can repay the loan

          * Proof of steady income-enough income

             to make monthly payments

          * History of making timely payments

          * Acceptable credit

          * Complete & full disclosure of financial

             status

· Applicant(s) must be a first-time homebuyer(s)

· Resident of Stanislaus County a minimum of 1 year

· Legal residency status – 1 applicant must be a legal resident

Family Selection Orientation 2008

We are currently scheduling orientations. Attendance to the orientation is mandatory for applying for Habitat’s housing program and to submit an application. Applications will be available after each orientation.
